RSVP - Your Invitation to Volunteer! Serving Beltrami, Cass, Lake of the Woods, and Morrison Counties in Minnesota RSVP connects volunteers to programs and projects that need the help of skilled individuals. We have just the perfect volunteer opportunity that is sure to be fun and rewarding for you! America Reads: Literacy is the key to all learning. Through the America Reads program, volunteers assist by reading to a child or group of children, help a child learn new words, help children understand what they just read, and listen to a child read. Guest Readers: Visit a classroom on occasion as a guest and read to the children. Readers Theater: Act out stories using scripts from children's books. This is a fun way for kids to learn and for volunteers to share their talents. Bone Builders Osteoporosis Exercise Program: This exciting exercise program helps prevent and reverse osteoporosis, improves balance, enhances energy and wellbeing, increases socialization, and provides health related information. Proper exercise stresses bones. Stimulated by the stress, bone density increases. Bone building relies upon weight training to protect against fractures caused by osteoporosis by increasing muscular strength and bone density. Bone Builders is based on this simple bodily response. Horizon Health RSVP staff will train volunteers to lead exercise sessions at donated sites. Anyone interested in joining the program may contact us at 800-224-6451.
